Jess Thovson grew up on a small dairy farm in Southwestern Minnesota surrounded by animals. Growing up Jess had a variety of pets from the cute and cuddly to the large, slimey and creepy. It was no surprise that Jess would end up in a career involved with animals.
Jess began training dogs when she got her second dog Domino a cocker spaniel mix. But Jess didn’t truly fall in love with the art of training dogs until Tia her golden retriever mix came along in 1994.They were inseperable and could often be found raising kittens or visiting local nursing homes. Jess often refers to Tia as her once in a lifetime dog.
She began teaching group classes in 1998 starting with the local 4-H clubs. In addition Jess took dogs that would find themselves homeless, give them some training and find them new homes.
In 2006 Jess completed her veterinary assistance courses graduating with Highest Honors. In 2008 she was approved as an AKC CGC Evaluator. She is also a member of the Association for Pet Dog Trainers and Doggone Safe. Jess is also a Mentor Trainer for Animal Behavior College.
Jess currently lives with her two daughters, one son and their dogs Max a rescued Labrador Retriever, Jynx a lab mix, Kai a bulldog mix and Baci the formally feral kitten.
